Huffy Tandem Bicycle
- The tandem bicycle or twin is a form of bicycle (occasionally, a tricycle) designed to be ridden by more than one person. The term tandem refers to the seating arrangement (fore to aft, not side-by-side), not the number of riders. A bike with two riders side-by-side is called a sociable.
- quick to take offense
- roused to anger; "stayed huffy a good while"- Mark Twain; "she gets mad when you wake her up so early"; "mad at his friend"; "sore over a remark"
- Annoyed or irritated and quick to take offense at petty things
- (huffily) in a huffy manner; "`Don't bother to call me back,' he said huffily"
Mayor's new Whymsy..#125 & Rhonrad
This month's handiwork, a special order bouncer, 26" alloy drive wheel, with wheelbarrow hub, triangulation floorboard braces made from a 'U' lock, and stem extension from forged Schwinn stem with seat post tube addition, itself triangulated by a NOS Schwinn kickstand. The active kickstand is from a Huffy. It's all glorious and shiny, and therefore doomed to fall and get scratched before I deliver it to Mayor Krovoza. He gets the can of paint to touch it up when it does..(they always do..) @95% post-consumer recycled materials.
The rear wheel's hub is offset for up and down propulsion, the wheelbarrow hub allows the stock spokes from the 26" wheel to be long enough to be used for the maximum length needed for the offset. (Secret's out!) She's pretty fast! Good upper body work out, too.
The German gymnastics wheel now can get my cautious attention for learning the basics beyond just being a human hub with 4 spokes.../; P
The 84" hoops are sized down from an 8 foot power line spool.
First recumbent I've built unless you count the "recumbike", which is a tandem built on BMX frame with recumbent front seat. Built from a Huffy "department store" bike, I call this one the "Huffylution".
Its a girl's frame, with the seat tube and seat stays cut and a 2x2 inch square tube brazed on for a rail that the seat slides on. Accommodates very wide range of riders, up to 6'3" (me). Most of weight is on 26" road tire and frontal area fairly low, making this a decently fast vehicle. Has a very "chopper"-like feel to it. Lower head angle resulting from use of 20" front wheel dictated adding more rake to front forks for proper steering geometry.
